The origin of Kubang Pasu is because of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Syah II, The Sultan of Kedah (1804-1843) who has awarded this district as a reward to Tunku Anum as a repayment for defeating and freeing Kedah from the colonisation of Siam and restore Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Syah II to his throne. Tunku Anum named the new state by " Kubang Pasu Darul Qiyyam " or " The State That is Strongly Standing".
The district of Kubang Pasu is the northernmost district in the state of Kedah Darul Aman. It borders with the Thailand to the north, the district of Padang Terap to the east, the district of Kota Setar to the south and the state of Perlis Indera Kayangan and the Malacca Straits to the west.
The area size of Kubang Pasu District is about 94,596 hectare (945.971km square feet). Almost all the land of the district of Kubang Pasu has a flat surface with a little bit of hilly area at the east. About 35%; (33,773 hectare) of the land in the district of Kubang Pasu is under the area of MADA, whereas 65%; (60,824 hectare) is outside of the area of MADA.
